What is Hamaari Kaksha?

Hamaari Kaksha is a 5-day immersive camp for middle school educators, teaching math and science. Our vision is to  enable and empower teachers in creating visual, contextual, relevant and engaging math & science classrooms. 

During the camp, participants will engage with the Aavishkaar team & each other from 9AM to 5PM including lunch and tea breaks. Sessions across the camp will include spaces that will explore several middle school math & science concepts, Ganit & Vigyan charchas and exploration tasks. 

Who is this camp for?

Anyone who is teaching middle school Math or Science, willing to explore different pedagogies and be a part of a network of support is the right fit for the camp!

What will the camp offer?

By the end of our camp, we envision our participants will take away the following:

Knowledge : Deepen their conceptual knowledge and understanding around Middle math and science.

Skill:

(i) Create a culture of questioning, discussion and justification using reason & logic in classroom.

(ii) Skill of conducting Ganit charcha and facilitating inquiry based science discussion.

(iii) Teach math & science topics through games, exploration tasks, visual, contextual and relevant aids.

Mindset :

(i) Believe everyone can do Math and asking questions is very important in science.

(ii) Develop a growth mindset.

(iii) Feel confident to facilitate Math and science instruction for all their students.

Camp Overview : 

Everyday participants learning journey will be as follows :

  • Engaging with Math and Science content session – being part of spaces and experiencing the content – switching between teacher and student hats.
  • Followed by a debrief/reflection exercise to discuss the strong pedagogy pieces that they observed, elements that made the conceptual understanding better and deep diving to understand the planning process facilitators at Aavishkaar follow.
  • Their daily schedule will also have spaces for individual/group work time allowing participants to apply their learnings to practice and ask questions – individually or as a Group.
