Our Story
Studies conducted by CENTA and ASER have revealed that a staggering 75% of Class V students struggle with basic division, while around 70% of teachers lack a comprehensive grasp of the subjects they teach. There is an evident dearth of cutting edge work in school education, geared towards inculcating scientific temper and evidence-based thinking in students.
These were the key gaps which prompted Sandhya and Sarit (both IIT/NIT alumnus & PhD in Electrical Engineering from USA), to relocate to India with hopes of igniting the young minds in the field of Science and Math.
When Sandhya and Sarit came back, they worked as parent-support to the government school in which their daughter was admitted. They spent four years volunteering in a Rural Government School to understand its joys and challenges. Looking for better ways to teach, led them to do in-depth research of various Math and Science concepts. Through that journey of teaching and learning themselves, they found the idea of ‘Aavishkaar’ driving them.
Founded in 2014, Aavishkaar is a pioneer in delivering high-quality Science and Math education, reaching some of the most remote schools and communities in the country.
